Fire & Rescue NSW. Station 4 – Darlinghurst

Darlinghurst Fire Station is one of the inner Sydney City Fire Stations and located in a bustling night life district. It sits within the Metro East 1 Zone.

The building is listed on the Heritage register, which notes: “The Darlinghurst Fire Station was built in 1911 at a cost of near 10,000 pounds, and occupied by firemen on the 22nd January 1912. This station replaced the former station at 250 Victoria Street. This was the last to be designed by WL Vernon, as he retired from the position as Government Architect shortly afterwards. Constructed in 1910-11 by Conrad Harrs, a builder from Burwood. This building represented a dramatic departure from the stereotype of the public building (McMonnies 1988).”
